Mindfulness

Would you like to feel calmer, happier and less stressed?  Whether you are stressed by work or home life, feel low or have depression, have anxiety or worry a lot, have pain or a long-term health condition, mindfulness could help.

Mindfulness can significantly reduce feelings of distress and help us regain the capacity to be more joyful and lead a calmer, more balanced life.

Life can be challenging. Much of our suffering can be overcome when we have the right tools to manage our minds. Waking up each day knowing that you have the control and the tools to manage your mind, mood and life is transformational.

We are thrilled to be able to offer our Patients at The Phoenix Health Group access to a self directed Mindfulness workbook, created by experienced Clinical Psychologist and Mindfulness Teacher, Alison Sedgwick-Taylor.

Phoenix Health Group Introduction to Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a NICE recommended treatment that can help us wake up to our lives. It can build our capacity to be present, calmer, happier, more resilient, kinder to ourselves and others and more able to respond rather than react. Mindfulness is a basic human ability. It is nothing exotic or obscure.  It is when the mind is fully paying attention to what’s happening. However, so often we are far away from the present moment, carried away by our own thoughts. This can rob us of really appreciating the good bits in our lives and makes us vulnerable to getting carried away into worry and rumination, which can lead to unhappiness, stress and anxiety. The good news is we can all learn how to do this. It is not about sitting crossed legged for long periods and emptying your mind. This workbook can help you develop skills in cultivating present moment awareness, noticing the thoughts that pass through, and guiding attention to where you intended it to be. This can be practiced whilst sitting, walking, working, or even when cleaning your teeth or washing the dishes.
