Dr Rohit Sethi

I am writing to personally inform you that I shall be retiring from General Practice at the end of this month. I have been a partner at the Phoenix practice for over 35 years, but it is now time to hang up my stethoscope!

I have had an amazing career as a doctor and GP and have had the privilege of working with many wonderful colleagues. I am also fortunate to have been able to combine my role as a GP with being a hospital anaesthetist.

The practice is very different to the one I joined in 1989, when we only had 7000 patients and 12 members of staff, (and no computers!). Today we have 25000 patients and over 100 staff.

I hope that I have been able to serve my patients with professionalism, kindness, and empathy. My motto has always been to treat people as I or a family member would like to be treated. I apologise for where I may have failed.

The foundation of the practice is based on personal continuity of care, good patient access and promotion of self-care – our 3 pillars! This ethos is shared by all who work here and will continue well after I have left.

And so now it is time to spend more time in my garden, dust down my fishing rods and bike, and play with my 2 young grandchildren. I will also now have more time to devote to the Sierra Leone charity that my wife and I started in 2012 (www.helpmadina.org.uk)

I would like to wish you all the best for the future – and please do say hello if you see me about the town!
